DESPITE THE ADVANCES OF THE  NEUROSCIENCE, the brain remains a mystery. The development of new technologies and advances in  non-invasive techniques to study brain processes (along with massive funding of scientific projects in  neuroscience) have made it possible for us to get a little closer to unraveling that mystery. Among the revealing truths that have been deciphered, the most compelling of all is the irrevocable fact that the brain learns best when emotion is ignited. Cognitive processes and emotional processes are linked. Therefore, there is no better strategy than to fan  the passion for knowledge in students. There is no technique that can supplant what Dr. Nestor Roman calls the "ecstasy of knowledge." Therefore,  education that seeks memorization of knowledge without emotional contextualization is an education destined for failure. If instead of focusing on students learning content, we focus on seeking and loving knowledge, we will be on the way to  the greatest revolution in education.

The  historic building was  the last one that the Spanish Provincial Council ordered to be built in Puerto Rico before  1898. Designed by the architect Tulio Larrínaga and built in 1882 for the Order of the Mother Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary. In 1985 it was designated a historic site on the United States National Register of Historic Places.  In 1999 the Government transferred ownership of the building to the Conservatory of Music, going through a restoration process that began  in 2001 and concluded in 2008.

It has complete and modern facilities that include computer rooms, Internet access, libraries  and auditorium.  Nearby are a variety of  places to eat with a wide range of options. Being integrated  in the metropolitan area, it is located  close to places of historical, cultural and artistic interest.

Parking lot

The Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico has ample parking for a modest fee. However, there is the possibility that the parking lot will fill up for this activity. In the Miramar area, just two blocks from the Conservatory,  There is the parking of the Supermercado Pueblo, near Fine Arts that also offers parking at a reasonable cost.

NEUROSCIENCE,  with the interdisciplinarity that  you  characterizes, allows us  create  new learning contexts that align  with  the neuroanatomical and neurofunctional mechanisms of  how the brain learns better. It is neuroscience that opened  the debate on traditional education  and questioned, on a scientific basis, its effectiveness, giving way to a critical look at the current educational system. It has also forged dialogue between educators and scientists, and is advocating  for public management of education that is evidence-based, open, collaborative, and supported by  the  most relevant findings from neuroscience and education.  This will definitely make the new paradigms that arise from this dialogue contribute to improving not only the academic level of the students, but also increasing their  happiness, thus counteracting frustration, inequality, demotivation  and desertion.
